November and December Activities

Old Home Day Baskets

Dracut Garden Club prepared three large baskets to raffle at the town's Old Home Day on September 10, 2011.

Each basket had a different theme: (1) Halloween, (2) "Gobble Till You Wobble, Thanksgiving Basket," and (3) "Harvest Home." The contents of each basket was worth at least $100.

GARDEN VARIETY at our OHD Booth

Besides raffling huge, theme baskets, we sold a variety of items at our Old Home Day booth on September 10, including but not limited to:

*12-month calendars with garden photos
(see samples below)
* wallet calendars
* large magnets with garden photos
* mouse pads with garden photos
(see sample below)
* note paper with garden photos
* hand-crafted items

We still have some of these items, and we'll offer them for sale at our regular club meetings.

Below are photos of some of the items that are still available.

DGC to help with new 9/11 Memorial

Another project has come our way. Dracut has acquired a piece of our country's history. A steel beam from the Twin Towers has been placed at the fire station property in East Dracut, near the Ogonowski family farm.
With the above words, our Horticulture Chair, Gail Morressette, began her message to club members. Our town is once again calling on us to pitch in, this time with a very special project. Gail is calling us to action in order to accomplish the task of planting red, white, and blue flowers around the monument and shrubs on either side of a nearby bench.
