For many gardeners, sharing their plants or seeds is one of the fun aspects of gardening. Perhaps you may have a plant that was passed down from your mother or grandmother, as I do. Whenever I look at that hydrangea or peony, I think of the person who gave it to me. Some people keep a special garden filled with plants that were shared from their friends or family and call it a friendship garden.
Our garden club has plant swaps where members can bring a division or a stem cutting to give to others in exchange for one they receive. Sometimes it turns out that a plant given to us can be invasive, so do ask if the plants will spread. Sometimes we want that in an area that needs filling in, but sometimes they may spread more than we want. So share with friends, but be careful what you plant and where you put it in your own garden.
