Whether a novice gardener or an experienced hand, anyone can benefit from joining a garden club. If you're new to gardening, you will certainly learn through doing and listening to speakers and just talking with other members. If you've been planting and growing flowers for many years, it's nice to share your knowledge with others. Plus, there's always something new to learn--a new type of plant, a different method to try out in your yard, or maybe just a little tip that will make your gardening easier.
Besides gaining knowledge for personal use, many garden clubs plant public spaces in their towns or cities and contribute to the beautification of their area, perhaps helping with clean-up on Earth Day or teaching youngsters how to make their surroundings at school more colorful. So if you are civically minded and want to make a difference in your town, contact the local garden club to see how you might help out. Probably the best thing about belonging to a club is the friendship you will find and the fun you can have together at meetings or social events.
